Brief

Returning from a 2-year spiritual hiatus from releasing new music, Solo Ntsizwa Ka Mthimkhulu sought to reintroduce himself with a new sonic scape and identity.

Solution

We art directed the brand identity of his new visual identity and the digital rollout of the first single ‘Shewe’. The art direction was guided by Solo’s new found identity as a traditional healer, using his music as a medium to communicate.

SHEWE, a way of greeting and acknowledging ancestors, is the name of Solo Ntsizwa Ka Mthimkhulu’s first single release in three years. The song serves as communication to his guides and a means to honor ancestors and their roles in assisting all of us daily.

Shewe was released on all digital streaming platforms on the 23rd of September, 2022. The record features the very versatile lyricist Sizwe Alakine and is produced by hip hop royalty Omen the Chef.

The record is also mixed by the iconic pH Raw X and mastered by Des Grey. Shewe serves as the first single from Solo Ntsizwa Ka Mthimkhulu’s next body of work which will be revealed in due time. It sets a tone of self-awareness and a confidence that can only be developed by putting time and effort into a craft.
